Block CDN Tracking Local Resources - Privacy & Speed for the Modern Web

Take Back Your Privacy from Silent Observers

In today's digital landscape, privacy is increasingly under siege. One of the most pervasive, yet often overlooked, methods of tracking users across the internet is through the use of Content Delivery Networks (CDNs). When you visit a website that loads common JavaScript libraries (like jQuery, Bootstrap, or FontAwesome) from a major external CDN (such as Google Hosted Libraries, Cloudflare, or jsDelivr), that CDN provider gains a window into your browsing habits. They know which site you are on, your IP address, and your device fingerprint—all just to serve a single script file.

Block CDN Tracking Local Resources is a powerful, lightweight browser extension designed to sever this invisible link. It intercepts requests directed at major external CDNs and serves the requested resources directly from a locally cached copy within the extension itself. This simple but effective mechanism ensures that your browsing activity remains your business, not the CDN operator's.

Key Features

1. Robust Privacy Protection

By serving common libraries locally, this extension prevents CDN operators from observing your presence on the websites you visit. No more "pinging" Google or Cloudflare every time you load a page that uses a standard library. Your digital footprint is significantly reduced, and your privacy is restored.

2. Reduced Page Load Latency

External network requests are often the biggest bottleneck in web performance. DNS lookups, TCP handshakes, and SSL negotiations all take time. By serving files from your local machine, Block CDN Tracking Local Resources eliminates these delays entirely for intercepted resources. Experience snappier page loads and a more responsive web.

3. Comprehensive Resource Library

We maintain a broad and frequently updated library of the most popular web resources. From legacy versions of jQuery to the latest releases of modern frameworks, our extension covers the scripts that power a vast majority of the web. Unlike older alternatives that may have stagnated, we prioritize keeping our local cache current and expansive.

4. Seamless Integration

Built on the latest Manifest V3 architecture, the extension integrates directly with your browser's network stack. It works quietly in the background without requiring any configuration. Just install it and enjoy a faster, more private browsing experience immediately.

5. Open and Transparent

We believe in the power of transparency. Our extension is designed with a clear, focused purpose: intercepting and serving resources. No hidden tracking, no data collection, and no unnecessary permissions.

Why Local Resources Matter

Most websites rely on a handful of standard libraries to function. Instead of every website forcing your browser to download the same copy of jQuery from a remote server, Block CDN Tracking Local Resources recognizes these requests and says: "I already have that file right here."

This approach doesn't just block tracking; it's also a win for bandwidth efficiency and environmental impact. By reducing the number of redundant data transfers across the global network, we contribute to a more efficient and sustainable internet.

How it Works

The extension uses the browser's declarativeNetRequest API to monitor outgoing requests. When it detects a request to a known CDN URL for a supported library, it redirects that request to an internal chrome-extension:// URL. The browser then loads the file from the extension's package instead of the remote server.

This process is entirely transparent to the website you are visiting. The site gets the library it needs to function, but the CDN provider never knows you were there.

Supported CDNs Include:

  • Google Hosted Libraries (ajax.googleapis.com)
  • Cloudflare (cdnjs.cloudflare.com)
  • jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net)
  • UNPKG (unpkg.com)
  • jQuery CDN (code.jquery.com)
  • and many more…

Privacy First, Always

We do not collect any personal data. We do not track your browsing history. The extension keeps a simple, local-only counter of how many resources have been intercepted so you can see the impact it's having on your privacy and speed. This data never leaves your device.

Join the Movement for a Better Web

The internet was designed to be decentralized and open. Centralized CDNs have turned it into a tracking engine. By using Block CDN Tracking Local Resources, you are taking a stand for a faster, more private, and more efficient web.
